Machine Setup:

Standard Needle-on-Bar Setup – Needle Bar Tensioner

When setting up your needle and tube, position the needle bar tensioner according to the amount of tension you wish to apply to the needle bar. Adjust the position by loosening the thumb screw and retightening it once the desired tension is reached.

Alternative Rubber Band Setup

Loosen or remove the thumb screw to remove the needle bar tensioner. When setting up the machine, wrap a thick rubber band around the motor cap and through the front of the machine to apply tension to the needle bar. The use of thick rubber bands and Dan’s Perfect Nipples is recommended.

Cartridge Setup

Wrap a rubber band around the motor cap and over the top of the armature bar to counteract the upward tension created by the cartridge. Both standard and thick rubber bands can be used; the correct choice will depend on the membrane or tension band stiffness of the cartridge being used.
